Recorded Classes - Bite Size
Sometimes in a group session I’ll get a sense that just a part of it would make a great shorter practice session. These are of varying lengths, don’t forget to check if it is Stronger or General….and folk who’ve travelled with me for a while now know that just because it’s floor based doesn’t always mean it’s easy…so read the fine print and enjoy! I’ve tried to let you know what to expect in the notes for each session.
Your 2026 Selection
January 26 Stronger Class - this is the first 33 Minutes and would be fine for many. All on the floor and it was very popular (includes a not too hairy strap stretch)
January 26 - Good For Many - this is the 15 minute standing section of the Stronger class above that includes many of our greatest hits. There is a longer lunge hold that can be left out or shortened.
Your 2025 Selection
35 minutes whole body lengthen and strengthen, all floor based. Will suit many. A different combo for your hip and shoulder reset that includes leg raises. Working to wake up more shoulder to hip connection too. If you love it and think “I really want to do the rest of it”…that’s available in the 1 hour classes too.
Gear: 1/2 dome and / or block, bolstering for neutral spine. A stretchy band or equivalent. Light weight for chest opening is optional. Our block weighs about 400gms (a small tin of tomatoes would be about the same)
30 minute reset with hip strengthening too. All on the floor
Another great one for all the Movewell Crew. We’ve got the bonus of some Clam Shells with a stretchy band to really wake up those hips too.
Gear: 1/2 dome and / or block, bolstering for neutral spine. A stretchy band or equivalent.
28 Minutes Only! Short and Sweet!
I recommend this for almost everyone who comes to work with me. it’s got some great basics to reset your pelvis and shoulders before getting going on your day or to put yourself back together at the end of it!
Gear: 1/2 dome, block and bolstering for neutral spine.
Your 2024 Selection
A 20 Minute Floor Based Wonder! Great for Most
This was the intro to our Friday morning class, the last week in October and we were all a bit giddy - so if you are in the mood for a light hearted warm up, that involves Psoas release, arm and chest stretch and strengthen and our 2 twists that unlock shoulders and pelvis then click go!
Gear: Bolstering for Psoas Release, 2 light weights (around 500gms, we used cork blocks).
PS. The keen eyed will notice that while our 3 October videos all include Psoas release, in one I use an actual bolster and in the others I achieve the same result with a block and a dome. You can achieve your movement goals when you don’t have all the gear ;-)
A SEATED NECK / SHOULDER SESSION FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYONE - FINISH WITH A TWIST (MINI SESSION)
About 10 minutes.
Gear: A chair!
STRONGER MINI - Floor series for shoulders and hips, includes hanging forward bend exploration to come to stand. About 20 minutes but does involve hands and knees.
Gear: None, although optional padding for knees and blocks for under hands in kneeling lunges and hamstring releases.
Legs up the Wall combo and Shoulder Release - Good For All
Folk really enjoyed this gem of a warm up. You’ve got pelvic awareness and release work, along with a beautiful deep shoulder warm up. All on the floor with minimal gear.
Gear: Whatever you need for bolstered neutral spine. A dome might be handy for side lying shoulder opening. Or a pillow would do. That’s it!
Your 2023 Selection
GENERAL: We take care of hands, wrists, release neck shoulders…all while calf stretching! Very efficient. Starts and ends with a lovely hip hinge resting upper body forward on your chair (or couch, or bed, or kitchen bench!)
Gear: 1/2 Dome or equivalent (say a small rolled towel) and maybe a chair for a hip hinge. That’s it! Great for travellers.
STRONGER: NEW SHOULDER EXERCISE - 12 MINS -Floor: Here is a shoulder series that includes our newest tool in the kit (still coming up with a name for this one….but you’ll know it when it makes it’s starring role in the final few minutes). The entire class is featured in the live section as well. They’ll both be in What’s New for a while too.
Gear: You will be on hands and knees so you may want something soft under your knees. A block and something to rest your elbows on would be good too. Great idea to watch it before doing it if you weren’t in a recent class with us. There are also Rhomboid pushups and associated stretches.
STRONGER (35mins, Floor, March 23) A Shoulder and Hip Warm Up and Strengthening Series. A new combo with lots of alignment focus that folk enjoyed. Starts in Psoas Release.
Gear: Bolster or Block and Dome for Psoas Release
GENERAL (Floor, 30 mins, March 23). A Shoulder and Hip Warm Up. A new combo with lots of alignment focus that folk enjoyed. Starting in Psoas Release with a focussed breathing exercise.
Gear: Bolster or Block and Dome for Psoas Release. Strap for breathing exercise.
Your 2022 Selection
GENERAL - FLOOR. Tue 9.30am 29 Nov/22. (25mins) A gentle introduction to No.4 and Inner thigh releases, followed by Clam Shells and Chest Opening, and Butterfly strengthening series too. Fnish with windscreen wipers. A good one to start or finish your day. A solid warm up / unwind for whole body.
STRONGER: Floor - Hip Flexor Release and Shoulders Stretch and Strengthen (15mins)
Gear: 1/2 dome and / or block, strap, pillow for under head optional
Moves: Illiacus (Hip Flexor 1) Release, Strap Stretch from Hip Flexor 1, Rhomboid Pushups and associated stretches, optional plank 8.00am 29 Nov/22.
GENERAL - CALF ROLL OUT FLOOR. Tue 9.30am 29 Nov/22. (5min) After a warm up windscreen wiper move into Calf Roll outs. You’ll need a ball (even a tennis ball would be great).
GENERAL - FLOOR HIP FLEXOR AND SHOULDERS. Tue 9.30am 15 Nov/22. (33min) Starts with a gentle Psoas Release and pelvic momvements into Snow Angel Arms with stability option. Brief visit to Strap Stretch town and Chest opening (circles and gentle release and then option of stability). We have reverse the wrist (stop sign hands) stretching for added shoulder love. Folk stood up from this and said “I’m taller now!”
STRONGER - FLOOR Thu 17 Nov/22 (22mins) Starting in Illiacus Release - AKA Hip Flexor Release 1 or ‘something under your butt pose’ (most popular name)… we do a pelvis and shoulder warm up. This is a faster paced warm up than General classes and it includes some stronger chest opening in the twist. A good quick reset for folk who enjoy the Stronger series (no pushups or lunges, full class is available in the 1hour section and it does have those gems!).
STRONGER - FLOOR Thu 17 Nov/22 (40mins) This is the longer version of the one above (full class in the 1 hour section). I’m including it again because you might like to add the Rhomboid pushups and the Quadruped strengthening series. You could stop there, about the 35 minute mark. Or you might like to add the lunges to stand, giving you a few more options depending on how much time you have. Spend as long as you like in the chair back of leg release which is where we finish here.
GENERAL - FLOOR HIP FLEXOR AND SHOULDERS. Fri 8.00am 11 Nov/22. (25min) No strap required! So no strap stretch. This will be enough for some to sign on straight away ;-) There is a Illiacus Release and Psoas Release. (Hip Flexor 1 and 2. If you got to the Mel Explains section you’ll find bolstering information should you need it. The class had bolsters but I used a block and dome. All of that is explained in that section too. There is also a nice chest release where we talk about stabilisation. The entire class is available in the 1 hour section.
STRONGER - FLOOR, 8 Nov/22. (35 mins) We’ve got a pelvic reset with Hip Flexor 1 (lliacus release), Strap Stretch and Quad. We have Shoulder reset with Quadruped, Rhomboid Pushups and even some leg raise work. Then we move to a kneeling lunge with both long release and starting to come up from the floor. So definitely a stronger series, but the gang did love it ;-)
GENERAL - STANDING WALL UPPER BODY STRETCH AND STRENGTHEN (7 mins) 26 Oct/22. Are you building up to floor work for upper body? Or maybe just want some shoulder love in an easy to pop in througout the day kind of way? A little cheeky in parts but that’s what the live style is all about! If you get to the end and want to know what’s next, this fun class is also in the full class series.
GENERAL - FLOOR, WALL - NO.4 AND GROIN, CLAM SHELLS AND CHEST OPENING (20 mins) 25 Oct/22. If you don’t have wall handy you can utilise a chair like Mel. Just have a strap handy for your Happy Baby.
STRONGER FLOOR CLASS - SHOULDERS AND CORE, HIP FLEXORS (30 mins) 22 Oct/22
GENERAL - FLOOR, HIP FLEXOR RELEASES AND PELVIC FLOOR/CORE SERIES (17 mins) 22 Oct/22.
This one starts in Psoas Release. Don’t forget there is a bolstering video in the Mel Explains (FAQ section) if you need some advice on setting yourself up for this amazing hip flexor release. You will also need what ever your body requires for neutral spine too!
